Some may be cheerful, some may be despondent, but either way: winter is coming soon. Though the weather maybe cooling off, the community calendar in Tupelo is heating up with tons of events in preparation of the holiday season!

From holiday markets to special performances, explore some of the highlights happening in the area over the next few weeks, and get involved with these fun and festive events.

Pioneer Day

Hosted at Natchez Trace State Park by the Tombigbee Pioneer Group, Pioneer Day celebrates the past of the Tupelo area, specifically from the 1700s to the 1840s. With authentic activities like basket weaving, leather working, and corn husk doll crafts, attendees are encouraged to put on their best pioneer costume and come out to participate.

Meet the Grinch

Try not to get too star-struck: the Grinch himself will be making a special appearance in Tupelo this year! Snap a picture with the green meanie for $5, then head to Ballard Park to take in the dazzling lights and decorations. All of the proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the Friends of the Museum.

70th Annual Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade

One of the most popular Tupelo events of the year, the Christmas Parade celebrates its 70th anniversary this year with the theme “A Musical Christmas.” Margaret Anne Murphey, co-creator of the Tupelo Community Theatre, Tupelo Symphony Orchestra, and GumTreeMuseum of Art, will serve as the Grand Marshal. Expect this year to be one of the most impressive Christmas Parades to date!

Holiday Market

Get a head-start with your holiday shopping at the third annual Link Centre Holiday Market! Enjoy browsing a variety of goods and products from local businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs. Tupelo Ballet Presents The Nutcracker

Celebrating the 36th annual performance of this centuries-old Tchaikovsky classic, the Tupelo ballet will put on two performances of The Nutcracker this holiday season. Watch Young Clara dance her way through the Land of Sweets, and take in a night at the theatre with this holiday performance.
